Madrid conference to review markets and trends

Noticias del día30 de julio de 2007

SPAIN - Leading figures in the international aquaculture industry are due to address delegates at the Global Outlook for Aquaculture Leadership (GOAL) 2007 conference in Madrid this autumn.

The Global Aquaculture Alliance event will consist of brief, focused sessions which will deliver summarised data for top shrimp-and fish-producing regions, concise reviews of major global markets, pricing trends, and important discussions on industry issues and solutions.

"GOAL will offer business leaders in Europe and elsewhere a great opportunity to learn from each other and create new business relationships," GAA Vice President Bill Herzig said. "Importantly, this annual event will also bring us together as an industry to promote sustainability."

Atle Eide of Norway-based Marine Harvest will highlight the experiences of the salmon-farming industry and provide a vision of aquaculture's future in the keynote address. Later, Dr Jan Kwakman of Mooijer-Volendam B.V. in the Netherlands will discuss the topic of product contaminants during the GOAL sessions on current seafood issues. Dr Viggo Halseth of Skretting will share his views on fishmeal production, GMOs, and other factors that constrain the aquafeed industry.

The event is due to be held from October 30 to November 2 at the Westin Palace Conference Hotel in Madrid, Spain.
